ASPECTS OF FISHERY MANAGEMENT

Consultancy
Having worked hand in hand with over 2000 fishery owners during the last 23 years, demand for our advice has grown to such an extent that we now specialise in this field. Chris Vickers heads this department and will be pleased to discuss the service with you.

Recommended fish stocks
Stocking fish can be expensive and sometimes unnecessary.
To avoid mistakes, we can help advise on:
a) the correct stocking density, which is often governed by soil structure and size of water
b) what species, numbers and sizes are the most suitable to stock (always taking into consideration your own expectations)
c) economics of a stocking plan
d) the pitfalls.

Fishery valuation
We act as agents for the buying and selling of fisheries in Britain and abroad. We can assess the freehold or rateable value and give our opinion of a fishery. This service is useful to Land owners and Angling Clubs.

Cropping unwanted fish
To maintain the balance in your fishery often means removing unwanted fish. Cropping ensures the remaining fish stay healthy and continue to grow or successfully breed within the bounds of the water. It also reduces the risk of disease and of the stock becoming stunted. We are fully equipped to help.

Assessing water quality
Poor water quality can lead to problems, but it can often be adjusted. We can test PH, ammonia, hardness and dissolved oxygen.

Aquatic plant control
Increasing water rents have caused Angling Clubs to be less tolerant with water weeds. In extreme conditions weed can ruin a fishing season. Treating weed is a specialised business. Experience of treating our own ponds and fisheries has given us the know-how to tackle the problem.
