Increased aeration can transform a fishery by promoting
extended feeding. During hot weather, dissolved oxygen levels may fall
dramatically, resulting in fish becoming torpid. A feeding fish may
have an oxygen requirement three times the level of a non-feeding fish.
Aerators can maintain a more consistent level of dissolved oxygen which
will also add long term health benefits for the fish stocks. |

| "I purchased an
aerator in June 2004. Delighted and amazed by its immediate ability to
improve catch rates during the warm weather, I purchased another 4! Now
my anglers enjoy constant fishing throughout the summer and I sleep
easy knowing that while the wheel is turning I am not going to suffer a
de-oxygenation and fish kill." Rob Morter, Cross Drove Fishery, Norfolk |
